Mark Larson Each fall, displays of marvelous color mark the change of seasons in both the Kaibab Forest and along the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. At this magical time of year, forests lie like a golden shawl across the hillsides of the Rim, as aspens thrust their colorful branches toward a crisp, blue sky. Maple trees and scrub oaks glow in fiery reds, especially when they catch warm early morning and late evening light high above the yawning chasm below.

This is your chance to photograph fall color as well as the sculptured temples and buttes seen from Bright Angel Point, the undulating layers of sandstone, shale and limestone found at Transept Christine Keith Canyon and the eroded arch of Angel's Window. Other scenic spots will include the panoramic views from Cape Royal, some 5,000 feet above the canyon bottom, and an overlook near Mt. Hayden from the canyon's highest viewpoint, Point Imperial.

Throughout our journey, we may encounter the gentle beauty of an early morning fog slowly dissipating when touched by sunlight. Or perhaps a front will pass through, leaving behind a fresh dusting of light snow or billowy clouds clumped over the horizon. Sunsets offer a different challenge, as the golden hour light blankets the land with a warm glow, while the canyon's recesses are enveloped in brooding shadows, creating imposing silhouettes. Join Christine Keith and a small group of photographers in this captivating setting to capture some of the most spectacular views Mother Nature has to offer!
